“The Cognitive Model of Interpreting and Decoding English: Words, Phrases, and Metaphors.”

This workshop is a four-part series that is designed to examine the cognitive model of interpreting and how we decode English. Each part is an hour long. The first part is focused solely on the theoretical framework of the cognitive model of interpreting. In examining the cognitive model of interpreting, we break down the process of communication and the construction of meaning through message analysis. In the second part, we touch on word classes - formerly called parts of speech- but the primary objective is to learn the English system of tense, aspect, and modality. In the third part, we take a deep dive into the structure of English phrases. Lastly, we bring all these skills together to develop a new method of decoding English into a visual schema.
